Kit and Jamie live on a farm in the heart of rural Dorset with their two young sons. What started as a love for cooking and entertaining has blossomed into a thriving business that reflects their dedication to quality, creativity, and exceptional service.
K I T –
Kit, a trained chef from Leith’s in London, later moved to Kenya where she managed & trained cooks at the 5* Loisaba Private Game Reserve for several years. Upon returning, she worked at the prestigious Admirable Crichton, organising some of the UK’s most high-profile events.
Thirteen years ago, Kit was diagnosed with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis, which was life changing and sparked a new focus on nutrition and wellness. This experience inspired her to create By Kit, merging her passion for food with a deep respect for its healing power. Combining this with some steely determination, exercise and love of cooking, this has formed the basis to her recovery and an exciting future that was inevitably going to involve food.
J A M I E –
Jamie trained as a chef under the tutelage of Darina Allen at World renowned Ballymaloe, in Ireland. After serving an apprenticeship he cooked around the globe before establishing the Port Na Craig Inn in his native Scotland. It was there that he honed his skills as a chef, winning national awards and international acclaim. In 2004 the restaurant was awarded “Restaurant of the Year , UK”, by Les Routieres and a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide. In 2006 he was invited to Indonesia to train chefs at The Istana (Palace) in Bali. He spent seven happy years there where he developed a love of South East Asian food. Today, Jamie’s style of food reflects his years of travel with a base firmly set in his classical training.
